Margarito Mondragon, Retablero
Margarito Mondragon paints his retablos in the original Spanish Colonial style. He creates his own pigments using the rocks and plants of his native soil, Northern New Mexico. He cuts pine wood from the forest to make the boards, or retablos. The retablo is finished with beeswax as a preservative.
